A MAN was assaulted and threatened with a knife during a ‘shocking’ gang robbery in Northwich.

The 26-year-old victim was walking along the railway footbridge between Malpas Road and Danefield Road at 7.45pm on January 19.

He was approached by three men who punched and kicked him to the ground, stealing £50.

One of the offenders threatened the victim with a knife.

DC Gary Morris said: "Although this was a shocking experience for the victim, thankfully he was not injured.

"This type of incident is rare in Northwich and we are making every effort to identify the offenders.

"In order to help us with our enquiries I would urge anyone with information to contact police."

The first man is described as white, 6ft tall in his early 20s and of slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers.

The second man is described as white, in his early 20s, 6ft tall, of slim build and has brown curly hair. He was wearing a light grey hooded top and dark trousers.

The third is white, in his early 20s, 6ft tall of slim build. He had long hair over his face that appeared to be ginger. He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers.
