RESIDENTS are being urged to keep their tummy bugs at home after a spate of sickness has swept through mid Cheshire.

NHS Vale Royal Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is appealing to people who are suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting to stay at home until they feel better in an effort to stop the bug from spreading.

In particular the CCG would ask people not to visit A&E departments, care homes, schools and nurseries.

Leighton Hospital has asked that people only make necessary visits to family and friends to avoid the risk of further spreading the illness.

The CCG advises self-care as the best choice to treat common illnesses and complaints such as sickness and diarrhoea – which can often be treated with a well-stocked medicine cabinet and plenty of rest.

Advice and treatment is also available at pharmacies, NHS 111 and the NHS Choices website nhs.uk.
