Winnington firm catapults into fundraising mission

Northwich Guardian: The UKCM team prepares for its catapult challenge. The UKCM team prepares for its catapult challenge.

A BRAVE team of workers launched themselves into the skies as they launched a year-long fundraising drive for two Cheshire hospices.

Employees from UK Container Maintenance (UKCM), in Winnington, were catapulted 100ft over Salford Quays with only a body harness and single bungee cord holding them in aid of St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice and East Cheshire Hospice.

The 15-strong team raised more than £3,000 for the two hospices.

Emma Elston, UKCM co-founder and Aspire Business Woman of the Year, said: “The team had a fantastic day raising money for our two chosen charities.

“Both are very close to our hearts so it was a natural choice for us to fundraise for these worthwhile and local causes.

“We firmly believe that as a successful business and employer we have to do all we can within our community and the causes which affect all our lives.

“So we will continue to do the wildest of challenges in order to reach our £20,000 target over the next year.”

To support the UKCM team visit and donate to both St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice and East Cheshire Hospice.
