DESIGNS for a new roundabout in Northwich are being revealed for residents to view and have their say.

Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) has plans to increase the size of the Leicester Street and Chesterway roundabout.

The significant changes are designed to work hand in hand with the regeneration of Northwich and help the roundabout cope with future levels of traffic.

A number of controlled pedestrian crossings will be installed to ensure safe access for those visiting nearby businesses and extensive nearby parking will also be provided.

Clr Lynn Riley, CWAC’s executive member for localities, said: “As a result of regeneration plans the town is benefitting from a number of developments and we expect this to continue in the future.

“As part of this we need to ensure that the highways network can cope with predicted increased levels of traffic and pedestrians can continue to navigate our roads safely.

“Our proposals will see Leicester Street roundabout become much more accessible for pedestrians and includes extensive nearby parking.

“I would encourage anyone looking to find out more to head to one the exhibitions or visit our website.”

The proposals, including detailed maps and design information, will be on show at a number of exhibitions.
