A RUDHEATH baker is looking to banish boring butties with a Boxing Day bread designed to enhance your Christmas leftovers.

Crafted by artisan bakers from Roberts Bakery, the festive bread is made with cranberries, clementine zest, sage and onion and packed with malted wheat and barley flakes.

The loaf is reported to be perfect for wrapping up turkey or goose, smearing with a generous serving of stuffing and topping with sliced sprouts or the odd pig in blanket.

Tim Wild, commercial director at Roberts Bakery said: “Our boxing day bread will transform lacklustre leftovers into gastronomic treats – wrapping turkey and goose in a specially created bread that enhances the flavours of the festive season and bursts with fruity freshness.

“Yule never look at another boring post-Christmas sandwich again.”

The ho, ho, dough hopes to be a hit with overindulgers, delivering a high fibre kick, ideal for offsetting the traditional Christmas feasting.

The finished loaf is a balance of sweet-sour flavours that promise to make Boxing Day leftovers as gastronomic as the main event.

In addition to pairing with turkey, Roberts Bakery also recommends matching with Stilton, creamy Wensleydale or a strong cheddar.

Roberts Bakery’s Boxing Day Bread is being made in a run of only 26 loaves to celebrate its namesake.

Roberts will be playing Santa by delivering the bread on Christmas Eve to 26 lucky winners who register on their website robertsbakery.co.uk
