Man robbed in early morning attack

POLICE are investigating an early morning robbery that happened at 6.55am on Wednesday, December 4.

The victim was walking along Vickers Way footpath, Northwich heading towards London Road when he was approached from behind by a man who snatched a carrier bag from his hand and pushed him over.

The offender ran off towards London Road leaving the victim on the floor.

The victim was left shaken but uninjured.

The offender is described as wearing a black woollen hat and black jacket.

DC Ross Hamilton from Northwich CID is appealing for anybody who may have witnessed the incident or seen anybody acting suspiciously at the time, to contact him on 01606 363258. DC Hamilton said: “Although incidents of this nature are very rare, I would like to remind people to remain vigilant and always contact the police to report any persons they believe to be acting suspiciously.”

Stick a CCTV camera on the bridge that crosses the river. Ive seen drug dealing, motorbike riding and now this down the arches. Its a direct cut through and you cant avoid crossing the bridge. With a camera, its a serious deterrent.
