LIGHTS will shine in memory of loved ones with a different type of Christmas tree at Witton Cemetery.

The Tree of Lights ceremony will be held at 6pm on Friday, December 13.

Residents are invited to dedicate a star to a loved one they have lost, which will be hung on the holly tree until twelfth night.

Following the illumination of the tree there will be a carol service and refreshments at St Helen’s Church.

Chris Shaw, clerk to Northwich Town Council, said: “This is the third year for the event, it’s been fantastic each year.

“It’s about the remembrance of loved ones from anywhere, not just Northwich.

“For anyone who’s lost someone it’s a chance to remember and reflect on good times and precious memories.”

Stars can be picked up from Northwich Town Council offices, at 78 Church Road, Northwich Information Centre, Snipets Hairdressers, at 89 Station Road, and Northwich Police Station.

The final closing date for returning stars is Wednesday, December 11.

Although there is no charge for the stars any donations will go to the town mayor’s charity.
