YOU’RE a ‘disgrace’ and ‘depraved’.

That’s how the person responsible for leaving human faeces on the children’s slide in a Knutsford play area has been branded.

A woman from Over Peover, who did not want to be named, was at the park with her granddaughter on Thursday, November 14 when she made the grim discovery.

She told the Guardian she could not understand how ‘anyone could do something so depraved’.

“I would never have anticipated that something like this could occur,” she said.

“Initially I thought it was a very large pine cone, it was my granddaughter who said it was poo and I contradicted her and said, ‘oh no, it’s a pine cone’, but she was insistent and when I looked at it more closely, I could see she was right.

“I find it hard to imagine how anyone, whatever their background, could do something so depraved.

“I just don’t know what the answer is if some individuals aren’t prepared to behave in a civilised manner as the majority do.

“The police can’t monitor the place 24 hours a day.”

Vivien Davies, chair of Friends of the Moor, said she could not understand why anyone would do such a thing.

“What on earth would go on in someone’s mind to do this sort of thing,” she said.

“I’ve not known anything like this happen before and we’ve had problems with dog poo but never human. All we can do is keep an eye on the area, with the help of the police.

“You can’t help feel anything but disgust for the people who can contemplate doing this and it’s very disappointing.”

A spokesman for Cheshire East Council said the authority sent a member of its Streetscape team to clean and sanitise the slide on Thursday afternoon.

“Once we were made aware by the person who reported it we went to the site, cleaned the site and sanitised it,” he said.

“It goes without saying that such an act is disgusting and will not be tolerated by the council.”

Sgt Rob Simpson, from Knutsford Police Station, added: “Greg Bithell the town centre PCSO, works closely with the Friends of the Moor, to tackle any incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB) that is reported to us there.

“We take the community’s concerns seriously, and we deal with ASB robustly.

“During Halloween we had extra patrols on to deal with complaints and in the lead-up to Christmas, we’ll be doing the same.

“I would like to reassure people that this is an extremely rare incident, and that Knutsford is a very safe and fantastic place to live and work in.

“If anyone has any concerns about ASB, then please report it to Cheshire Police on 101.”
