POLICE have been dealing with a spike in burglaries and attempted burglaries throughout the Hartford region during the weekend.

Officers dealt with six separate incidents in a localised area of the district between Friday, November 8 and Sunday, November 10.

On all occasions, offenders gained or tried to gain entry to homes by forcing the back door of properties.

There was an attempt to force the back door of a property in Grosvenor Avenue on Friday at 6.45pm, but no entry was gained.

At 7.53pm the same night, a property in adjacent Booth Road was broken into via the back door and an untidy search of the premises made.

Later that evening, offenders gained access to a property in Highbank Road via the back door and made an untidy search of the dwelling.

On Saturday morning, another property in Highbank Road reported a forced entry to their home via the rear door.

Elsewhere, a property in Needham Drive reported on Saturday that their home had been targeted the previous evening.

The sixth burglary in the Hartford area was reported at an address in Hodge Lane, where the rear patio doors were forced open and an untidy search made of the premises.

A police spokesman said: “We are advising residents in the Hartford area to be careful. Make sure your doors are locked and that valuables are out of sight if possible.

“Be vigilant, and report anything suspicious to the police straight away.”

Anyone with information on the burglaries should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
