FIVE charities will benefit after a Northwich school raised £3,000 in under an hour.

Pupils from St Nicholas Catholic High School and Sixth Form College raised the impressive amount during their annual Mini Market Challenge on Friday, October 18.

Each year, pupils from each year group work together in their forms to organise and run their own small business, helping them to develop their entrepreneurial skills while raising money for charities.

This year, students nominated Donna Louise Trust, Stick and Step, Kenya Eye Care, DEBRA and Diabetes UK as their chosen charities.

In the past, pupils have thought of some innovative ideas and this year was no exception, with some groups selling their own homemade tie-dyed socks and homemade jewellery, as well as traditional cupcakes and sweets.

Some ran inventive competitions while others encouraged fellow pupils to throw wet sponges at their form tutor.

One student even took the brave step of waxing his legs in front of the entire student body.
