A WINSFORD mum is urging people to get their jiggle on and join in with the vibration and oscillation fitness craze with the help of her new Northwich business.

Vibration training first began in the 1960s when it was used to help astronauts gain strength but now, more than 50 years later, it has taken on a new lease of life and, combined with oscillation, is reportedly helping women up and down the country to lose weight.

Kerry Taylor, owner of Northwich-based Jiggle Fit, is just one of those women and is encouraging others to join the vibration and oscillation revolution.

The 34-year-old opened the Middlewich Road fitness suite on October 12 after previously using the X-Fit machines at Winsford’s Wobble Away.

“I’d seen how well they worked and how easy they were to use – you can burn 300 calories in 10 minutes – that’s the same as a gym session,” said mother-of-one Kerry.

The vibration motion causes the muscles to contract and relax up to 50 times a second, giving the body a high speed exercise session that builds on strength rather than size, while the oscillation movement changes the speed and amplitude at which the X-Fit machines move.

“You can choose different positions on the machines to isolate different groups of muscles, working on your desired parts of the body,” explained 34-year-old Kerry.

There are different programmes to suit all, whether it is to tone and build strength or lose inches and burn fat, X-Fit suits all with little time and effort.

Kerry, who has previously worked as a landlady and holiday rep, is proving that you really can jiggle while you giggle.

“It’s a really fun experience and we have a real family friendly atmosphere here at Jiggle Fit,” said Kerry, who is currently helped by her niece, 24-year-old sports teacher Rebecca Hilditch.

“We’ve got all sorts of people coming – the machines are suitable for children as young as 12 as long as they have adult supervision and we also have people a lot older too.

“People come with their friends, their partners, mums are bringing their kids and they don’t get bored because it’s only 10 minutes and we have things for the kids to do.

“We’ve only been open since October 12 but it has really taken off – we’ve already got regulars coming in and people are already starting to notice a difference.

“Word of mouth has really helped us, as has Facebook. People come in and then the next time they come back with their friends, their family and it just goes from there.

"Hopefully this will take off and then we can look at opening another place up."
