THE Poppy Appeal has issued a clarion call for 30 volunteers to help make this year’s appeal in Northwich the biggest and best yet.
St Nicholas Catholic High School is leading the way, with five pupils signing up at the campaign launch.
Julie Dove, from the British Legion, said: “It is a period of intense activity for our volunteers and we need 25 more in Northwich to sit at manned poppy stands in the supermarkets for just two hours.
“You need have no military background whatsoever just a strong desire to support our Armed Forces and their families now and for the rest of their lives.
“Every poppy helps The Royal British Legion to support the Armed Forces past and present and their families and a whopping £1.6 million is spent each week on delivering direct practical care and support to our Armed Forces community.
“Over 40 million poppies will be made and distributed across the county and overseas by more than 350,000 collectors, aiming to raise £37million.”
To volunteer for just two hours during October or November email Julie at email@example.com or ring 07768 238875.
