STAMP collecting will be the subject of a weekend event at a Northwich museum.

Northwich Philatelic Society will be at Weaver Hall Museum, in London Road, from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13.

The society, which dates back to 1928, will display diverse highlights from members’ collections, including stamps from across the Commonwealth, flags, space, railways, penguins and a display of contemporary Angry Birds stamps from Finland.

Members will be on hand to explain the significance and history of stamp varieties, answer questions and give advice.

They are keen to encourage new collectors, especially children, and will be giving away 100 beginners’ packs of stamps during the event.

Northwich Philatelic Society meets at Hartford Church Hall on the second Tuesday of every month.
