A TALENTED Sir John Deane’s College (SJD) student has appeared on the professional stage, entertaining thousands in one of the region’s most famous theatres.
Upper sixth student Dafydd Shalders recently took part in a two week programme putting on a production of Grease at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
The production marked the ninth annual Manchester Stage Experience, which involved 80 talented young performers - led by a professional creative team – progress through a series of auditions to gain principal parts.
17-year-old Dafydd played the part of Sonny and performed in the iconic venue in front of audiences of around 1,200 people in four shows over the summer.
“We had eight days of rehearsals to gel as a group and create something special and I think we did that,” said Dafydd.
The show was well received, with reviewing bodies What’s On Stage and The Public Review giving the production four out of five.
Dafydd has now returned to college life at SJD to complete his A-level studies in English literature, history and theatre studies.
