POLICE suspect people reported begging for money in Northwich during the past week are attempting to fund their drugs habits.
A spokesman for Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Team has asked members of the pubic to report any begging incidents straight away, so police can apprehend the offenders.
The spokesman said: “We’re having problems with people begging at the top end of town. There have been two reported incidents near St Helen’s Church and two in Victoria Road.
“People have also been reported asking for a quid or two on Lidl car park.
“If anyone is approached by people asking for money, they should give us a ring immediately as we suspect these people are after money to buy drugs.”
Police can be reached on the non-emergency number, 101.
