Lostock woman raises £609 for St Luke's through NHS-themed party
A KINDHEARTED Lostock Gralam resident has raised more than £600 for St Luke’s Hospice.
Dot O’Boyle raised the impressive sum through an NHS-themed party at her home on Smithy Lane on July 27.
Twenty-eight female family and friends attended the event, complete with a manner of fancy dress hospital-themed attire.
Dot, who personally supplied and paid for the buffet, alcohol, mini bus and live entertainment from a Freddie Mercury Tribute, said: “This enabled me to ask for as generous a donation as each could afford for the evenings fun and entertainment which added up to a total of £450.
“In addition to the donations, a raffle was held to further boost the funds.”
Sales of raffle tickets totalled £159, bringing the total raised for the evening to £609.”
This sum will now be matched by Barclays Bank.
Dot added: “The gentleman who helped raise the funds at the party is a Mr John Black – an employee at Barclays.
“The raffle was generously sponsored by various local businesses.
“The feedback from all the guests is that they enjoyed the best party ever and all in a good cause.
“We all had lots to eat and drink, lots of laughter rang throughout the evening and we danced our socks off to Freddie.
“Thank you to everyone who helped and donated prizes.
“Roll on to the next party when we do it all over again.”
