Kingsmead care apartments information evening
AN INFORMATION evening will give residents chance to find out about extra care apartments being built in Kingsmead.
Anderton Place, off Sandbach Drive, was given planning permission in November 2011 after developers won their appeal against Cheshire West and Chester Council, which had rejected the plans.
Construction started in November last year and the 58 apartments, complete with communal facilities like a bistro, spa and hairdressers, are expected to be complete by early May next year.
Jackie Brown, from social landlord Wulvern Housing, which owns the £8.4 million development, gave a presentation to Kingsmead Parish Council at its latest meeting.
“Extra care isn’t a new concept but Anderton Place is the first extra care home in Northwich and we’re proud to have branched out into Northwich,” she said.
Of the apartments, 33 will be to rent and 25 to buy as part of a shared ownership scheme.
Apartments are available to people aged over 55 who have a local connection and support needs.
Care charges vary according to residents’ needs but there will be a team of professionals on site 24 hours a day.
Anderton Place will also open its doors to the community once it is up-and-running.
Jackie said: “It will very much be a resource for the local community as well.
“The carers centre in London Road is already interested in using the spa facilities for their carers and there will be activities like Tai Chi.
“We’re organising the information evening for anyone and everyone interested to come along and find out more about extra care.”
The information evening will feature plans and artist impressions of the scheme, help and advice about moving and the chance to reserve an apartment.
It will take place at Kingsmead Primary School, in Dukes Way, from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, September 30.
