Flower festival will celebrate successful restoration of windows
A CELEBRATION in flowers will be taking place at a Great Budworth church this month.
St Mary’s and All Saints Church, on High Street, will hold its flower festival, Inspired by Glass, over the last weekend of September.
The festival has been organised by members of Mid Cheshire flower club and the church flower ladies.
Sylvia Godber said: “We always have our harvest festival at this time of year and in 2013 we commemorate the successful restoration of two windows with a flower festival.
“A group of us will be responsible for transforming the church over four days – our theme is glass.”
Organisers have taken inspiration from colour, shape and the stories hidden among them.
Sylvia added: “Come along and learn more about glass designers, glass production and its link with the salt that lies beneath our feet.”
The Venerable Dr Michael Gilbertson will open the festival with a special service at 7.30pm on Thursday, September 26, with the festival running from 10am the following day.
The festival will continue on Sunday, September 29, from 1pm.
Entry is £5, which includes light refreshments and entry to the craft fair in Great Budworth School.
All are welcome to attend the church’s harvest service at 10.30am on the Sunday.
