Rudheath hairdresser hopes to help those in and around Northwich
A NORTHWICH hairdresser who aims to ease the pain of hair loss is celebrating her first nine months of business by offering her personal wig supplying service to people further afield.
Mother-of-three Sue Pogson, of Rudheath, set up Hairs and Graces in January as a way of reaching out to those who have suffered hair loss through ill health, whether it be cancer, alopecia or other illnesses.
Since then, Sue’s business has gone from strength to strength and now, after being placed on Leighton Hospital’s supply list, the 47-year-old hopes to branch out and offer her personalised service to people from Winsford and Middlewich.
“Leighton Hospital covers not only Northwich, but Winsford and possibly Middlewich too – I want to do the same.
“I suffered hair loss myself and all of the trauma that goes with it so know how hard it can be.
“People know there’s somebody there who can help them.
“My aim is to make the process easier.”
As well as providing wigs for those who have lost their hair through cancer and alopecia, Sue, a trained hairdresser, also cuts hair prior to a person losing it completely.
She also styles wigs for people who may already own one.
“A lot of my customers have lost their hair through alopecia, some even through other medical conditions like having thyroid problems.
“It’s a big problem than people first anticipate and things are going really well with the business – I just want to be able to reach out and help more people.”
Operating from her conservatory on Sunningdale Close, Sue aims to offer a personal service and take away the ‘embarrassment’ that comes with hair loss.
“Some people may already own a wig, it may be buried at the back of their cupboard and might not be right.
“You wouldn’t want to go into the hairdressers to get it altered, that can be embarrassing, so I can do that too.
“I’m still doing home visits in Northwich and I’m willing to go 10 miles away for home visits too but if they want to come to me, it doesn’t matter how far away they live.”
Sue offers wigs for women and children, hairpieces, hair extensions, head scarves and hats, as well as wig caps, shampoo and wig care.
