A CIDER maker is appealing for apples and pears to help re-stock his stores.
Matthew Veasey, from Nook’s Yard Cider and Perry, said this summer has been good for growing after a bad 2012.
“Our true cider & perry, made only from 100 per cent freshly pressed fruit juice, is very popular across Cheshire, he said.
“Although we made more last year than ever, the poor terrible summer of 2012 meant we couldn't make enough and have pretty much sold out.
“However, this is actually a good thing, because with so much fruit around this year, we're going to need lots of spare space for our planned increase in production.
“We're always on the look out for any spare apples or pears people may have.
“You can pick it yourself, or we can pick it – although we use the traditional method of a long pole with a hook over the end to shake the branches.
“We've had a great 2013 with our Perry coming second in the Manchester Cider Festival, and many new customers including The Orient Express Northern Belle – we're already making a list of customers who want cider for next year.”
