A WEAVERHAM project offering support to parents and carers of pre-school children with additional needs is celebrating receiving £500 from Weaver Vale Housing Trust (WVHT).
The family and toddler group run by The Russett School, which has supported more than 20 families since it was set up two years ago, received the donation through WVHT’s community assistance fund.
Helen Roberts, COaTS coordinator at the Russett School and Cheshire Multi Sensory Impairment Unit, said: “Funding enabled us to go on a special visit with the children to see toys, sensory equipment and specialist apparatus which we are looking to bring to the community room at the school where our group is held.”
The group helps parents or carers and children to share experiences, support each other and access expertise from physiotherapists and other health professionals.
Each year WVHT sets aside a budget for its Community Assistance Fund and encourages similar community groups to come forward to bid for grants of up to £500.
The funding has already provided grants to a range of organisations, including youth groups, nurseries and child minding groups, sports and social clubs, and credit unions over the last few years.
For information on applying, call Stacey Green at WVHT, on 01606 813422.
