ANIMALS, music, crafts and bike rides are just some of the attractions planned for Northwich on Saturday.
A community fun day will be held at Vickersway Park, also known as Roker Park, from 10am to 6pm.
The event has been organised by Northwich Town Council to bring people together and showcase what Northwich has to offer.
Chris Shaw, Northwich Town Council clerk, said: “Hopefully the weather will be good and we can get the community together.
“This is all about the town council doing something for the community and giving something back.
“The council wants to put more and more events on for the town and become more active in the community, we’re doing masses of stuff.”
Fun activities on the day include fun fair rides, a bouncy castle, face painting, tractor and trailer rides, animals from Stockley Farm, stocks and sponges and gingerbread decorating.
There will be folk musicians and artists from Amplify Youth Music Project providing a musical accompaniment on the day.
A craft marquee will hold a knitting display, miniature garden competition, art work, home brewing demonstration and jam.
There will be fitness demonstrations on Vickersway Park’s new outdoor gym and women-only relaxed bike rides leaving from the park throughout the day.
The RNLI, Cheshire Search and Rescue and Cheshire Fire will also be on hand to showcase their equipment and talk about the work they do.
Refreshments will be available, including a barbecue and healthy breakfasts.
Chris said: “The idea of this community day is to expand it so that over the coming years it will get so big we can use Whalley Road playing field as well.”
Admission is free.
• The women-only bike rides are part of the Breeze network, British Cycling’s initiative to inspire and encourage more women to cycle. They will start from Vickersway Park at 11.30am, 1pm and 3pm. To book a free place on the ride, called Town Loop Taster, visit breezebikerides.com.
