THE newly appointed headteacher of a Norley school has praised her students after yet another year of exceptional Key Stage two results.

Pupils at Norley CE Primary School have once again exceeded national standards and have achieved fantastic SATS results in reading, writing, English and maths, gaining 100 per cent in all subjects.

Last year, the children’s performance placed the school in the top 10 achieving primary schools in Cheshire West and Chester and the school hopes to obtain a similar accolade this year.

Asked about the school’s recipe for success, headteacher Mrs Helen Kelly, said: “Over the past few years, our fantastic school has grown from strength to strength.

“The recipe is simply hard work and pulling together.

“We have amazing children who want to learn, talented and committed staff who are happy to go that extra mile for the children, supportive parents and a PTFA who are keen to get involved in school activities and a team of school governors who really care about the school and its direction.”

Mrs Kelly has taught at Norley Primary School for six years but has only recently been appointed as headteacher following a comprehensive and challenging selection process.

“I was delighted – and I’m still very excited – to have been appointed as headteacher of such a wonderful school.

“My vision for the school, shared with governors and staff, is to consolidate and further improve on our position as one of the very best small primary schools in the county.

“Already, we have made a major investment in new technology and we have ambitious development plans for the school buildings and grounds.

“In looking ahead to the 2014 curriculum, we will be seeking to be innovative in our approach to ensure that we continue to make learning fun and personally relevant.

“I remain convinced that ‘Happy Hearts and Enquiring Minds’ underpin education progression and achievement as well as the social, emotional and spiritual well-being of the children who come to our school.

“Norley is a happy school and, educationally, a very good school.

“My aim is to make it even better.”
