Get jogging for The Joshua Tree

RUNNERS both silly and serious are being invited to sign up for a jog around Northwich woodlands in April.

The Joshua Tree’s annual fun run and race will take place at Marbury Park on Saturday, April 27.

There will be a 2.5km silly socks family fun run for all ages to run, jog or stroll, and a 5km race open to people aged 13 and over.

The 5km event is an official UK Athletics multi terrain race, but is open to all aged 13 and over and will have trophies and prizes for under 16’s and men and women aged over 16.

Jo Pritchard, The Joshua Tree’s manager, said: “This year we are welcoming our guests, Vale Royal Athletics Club runners and England Schools representatives Katie Gerrard and Jessica Parsons who had a fantastic 2012 and are being watched as future GB hopefuls.

“We are hoping that London 2012 will have inspired a whole new generation of potential Olympians who may want to start with something a little smaller first, in Marbury Park perhaps?”

Goody bags are guaranteed for everyone who pre-enters for the day and there will be medals for all finishers.

Prizes will also be available for the best silly sock themed costumes.

Jo said: “We encourage everyone to raise some sponsorship for The Joshua Tree if they can – it’s not essential but every pound moves us closer to building the Joshua Tree Holiday House and Support Centre to help relieve the stress, isolation and trauma for families with children suffering from life threatening conditions such as cancer.”
