UKIP branch formed in west Cheshire

THE deputy leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) visited Cuddington as part of the establishment of a new branch in Cheshire West.

Close to 70 people attended the first meeting of the branch, which took place at Cuddington Village Hall on February 21, where national deputy Paul Nuttall explained the reasons behind UKIP’s growth nationally, including the UK’s membership of the European Union.

The meeting was organized by Cuddington resident Chris Watkin, who will be planning activities and events leading up to the Euro Elections in 2014 and the General Election in 2015.

Mr Watkin, who stopped being a Conservative activist and joined UKIP four years ago, hopes the formation of the Cheshire West branch will help the party to develop a much greater presence in Northwich and Winsford, as well as the villages inbetween.

He said he was ‘delighted’ with the response and the welcome that Paul Nuttall received added that he looks forward to this new opportunity to raise political awareness within the area.

After the gyratory fiasco, it's certain the councillors don't take any notice of Northwich residents so I'm prepared to give UKIP a chance

UKIP will scrap the HS2 environmental disaster. That must be worth a few votes. People are getting pretty sick of Labour and the Conservatives. They do nothing but line their own pockets and treat the voting public with contempt.

Oh for goodness sake! Stop bashing UKIP. Change is what Northwich needs, just look at what successive Labour and Tory administrations have done for this town!

Wake up and smell the coffee, the labour and tory lot have had it there way for way too long and UKIP have some very sensible policies. Go to the UKIP website and start reading through them!

There is a thriving Facebook page for UKIP, it's a good place to air your views, and get regular updates.

Absolutely Matt. Many may not know about the disgraceful outburst from Amy Rutland (a paid Labour Party Activist) who was planted in the audience of Question Time a few weeks ago, she was abusive to the UKIP panelist. The BBC (namely D. Dimbleby) allowed this to go on when normally someone doing such things to a Labour or Tory panelist would be interrupted by Dimbleby and stopped.

The conduct of The BBC and that Labour Party Activist (Amy Rutland) in my mind was 'disgusting' not UKIP. I hope The Liebour Party are very proud to have her!

To all the devout Labour Party supporters in Northwich....

So you find UKIP disgusting? So tell me again, how Labour NEVER falsified evidence to start a war in Iraq!

I think we're definitely on the same page rogers-t! UKIP seem to have fantastic ideas on local policy, that's why I'll be voting for them at every opportunity I get, if a party or it's representatives are so hell bent on shouting someone down, you've got to ask yourself if that is because they are threatened by something that is greater, and better than what they themselves stand for! BTW is there any way for posters on this page to get in touch with each other?

Good to see someone like you here who is prepared to look at the alternatives rather than continue to be conned by the main-stream parties.

I don't think the private message facility is available anymore, but if you have a generic email list a hotmail or yahoo account you're prepared to disclose openly here, you can always post it here but spell it out in such a way that the guardian's automated bot doesn't detect it's an email address and remove it ;)

How surprising some folk have only just realised that politicians tow the party line! Politicians talk politics nothing else matters to them.Staying in office for the pension at the end. Running the country is second to politics and is of no interest to them just the party lines.
