REGISTRATION has opened for cyclists to get on their bikes and raise cash for causes with a blast round a mid Cheshire race track.

Get On Your Bike (GOYB) takes place at Oulton Park on Sunday, June 16.

As well as enjoying a ride on the hallowed tarmac, cyclists and spectators will be able to enjoy refreshments and a variety of attractions, details of which are yet to be revealed.

There are two sections to the event, which has been organised by Vale Royal Lions in conjunction with St Luke’s Hospice, the NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC), the North West Air Ambulance, the League of Friends for Tarporley War Memorial Hospital and the Guardian’s Pedal Power campaign.

From 8am to 10am, speed demons will be let loose on the track to enjoy as many laps as they can.

Then from 10.30am to 5pm the circuit will be open for individuals, families and teams who want to enjoy a more relaxed ride and have a bit of fun.

Tony Rickels, from Vale Royal Lions, said: “I’m hoping that people will come along in fancy dress - that would be great and would make it really interesting.

“We’d welcome tandems, unicycles, wheelchairs.

“Anyone can come on any type of bike and the more different types, the better.”

The speed demon session is available by advance booking only and costs £6 per cyclist plus a minimum of £25 sponsorship.

Prices are the same to pre-register for the ‘cycling for all’ session.

Admission to ‘cycling for all’ on the day is £10 for cyclists aged over 14 and £5 for under 14s.

The event is free for spectators and children aged under five years old.
