A CASTLE teenager is preparing for her crowning moment this summer.

In the last selection day to be held at Northwich Memorial Hall, Ebonie Davey, 15, was chosen as the Northwich carnival queen for 2013.

The Hartford High School pupil will be crowned during carnival day, on July 6.

“When I was chosen my mum started crying, all my family were crying and my friend even cried and she doesn’t normally cry,” Ebonie said.

“I felt rather special, then I cried as well – I think it’s because you’ve wanted it for so long and finally get it.”

Ebonie has been part of the carnival and its retinue since she was eight and was lady-in-waiting at last year’s event.

Her family has already started to design her float and she has found her perfect dress for the occasion.

“I’ve shown my family the dress but not my friends, I’m going to make them wait,” she said.

“They keep asking what it’s like but I’m not telling.

“They’re really buzzing about it, really happy and excited and can’t wait, they’ve started calling me Miss Queenie.”

She added: “I’m looking forward to raising money for charity and to making a difference for Northwich.”
