Plans for Northwich Memorial Hall's final weekend

NORTHWICH Memorial Hall will close this weekend after more than 50 years hosting events as diverse as rock gigs, tea dances, children’s puppet shows and beer festivals.
Its final weekend will be action packed, with a live dance event, art project and memorabilia collection on Saturday and the last passing out parade from the hall for Northwich’s Air Cadets on Sunday.
The dance event, called Collect: Live, will be performed through the town centre by a host of community groups drawn together by Cheshire Dance.
The promenade performance will start at Adelaide Gardens, opposite Marks and Spencer, at 5pm and travel along Leicester Street, through Weaver Square and through the subway before a finale of light and dance at the memorial hall.
Artists from the London Road Collective will be working with visitors in the hall on Saturday to create an art project based on memories.
Gaynor Sinar, from Curtain Magic, will also be helping people create mood boards inside the hall to take as mementos.
The cadets’ final parade from the hall on its last day will be a poignant event as 146 Squadron first paraded from the venue in 1987, with its second entry of cadets.
This tradition has been kept up, with residents watching the squadron band march through Northwich twice a year.

ATC parade details: • The squadron will form up on Blackhurst Street, behind the former magistrates’ court and, led by the squadron band, will march along Chesterway over Hayhurst Bridge.
• They will turn left on to Castle Street and march through Castle turning left into Darwin Street where the reviewing officer will take the salute as they march past the squadron entrance.
• The parade from the memorial hall will start at 11.30am and arrive at Darwin Street at noon.
