Wincham motorists urged to park considerately

DRIVERS in Wincham are being urged to be more considerate to pedestrians when parking their cars.

Northwich police have received a number of complaints regarding vehicles parked on the pavement, instead of on the road.

PCSO Philip Hambleton said: “The number of vehicles parked on pavements is becoming a cause of serious concern in Wincham.

“It is obviously annoying for someone on foot to have to squeeze through a narrow gap between a car and a wall or a hedge.

“However, in some cases even that is impossible resulting in pedestrians having to walk into the road.

“In those cases they are obviously being put at an unnecessary risk.

“The less abled and people with a push chair or a pram are even more seriously affected.

“I know some roads in the area are fairly narrow and drivers may think they are helping by parking their car partially on to the pavement but the problems they are causing people in many cases can far outweigh any benefits to moving traffic.

“Drivers should also be aware that if they do cause an obstruction, they could be liable to a £30 fine.”
