Campaigners make final stand against Cuddington homes

CAMPAIGNERS are making final preparations in their fight against plans to build 100 new homes in Cuddington.

If given the go ahead, the plans, put forward by Ashall Homes, would see land bounded by Kennel Lane, Chester Road and Dalefords Lane transformed into up to 100 homes.

Landscaped gardens, public open space and a children’s play area are also included in the plans, with 30 per cent of the site earmarked for affordable housing.

At present, more than 140 comments have been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) via their planning website in relation to the proposals, with the majority objecting to the plans.

In December, Cuddington Parish Council and Eddisbury MP Stephen O’Brien both expressed their concerns, with the parish council recommended the plans be refused by CWAC when its strategic planning committee meet on February 21.

Samantha Foster, a member of the Action Group set up to the fight the plans, said: “We had a meeting with MP Stephen O’Brien earlier in the year and his advice and clear backing against the application has given the Action Group and residents the boost to continue to fight against another development impacting our village.”

Those against the plans say the development will have a negative impact on the landscape and character of the area, increasing traffic and putting pressure on schools and medical services.

Samantha added: “The Action Group has grown to 31 strong which has enabled us to get expert advice from solicitors, planners, traffic and environmental professionals.

“We have formed working committees to look in depth at the extremely lengthy application so our case will be well informed for the strategic planning meeting on February 21.
