Leanne says goodbye to hair in support of Macmillan
3:20pm Tuesday 29th January 2013 in News
A CHARITABLE supermarket worker has sacrificed her long locks to raise awareness and money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Leanne Joinson, who works at Sainsbury’s in Northwich, said farewell to her head of hair after her friend was diagnosed with cancer for the third time.
The 24-year-old Winsford resident said: “I lost my mum to pancreatic cancer in 2011 and my auntie had it too.
“I just want to say thank you to Macmillan – they do a great job and I want to raise as much as I can for them and give them the support they deserve.”
Leanne’s selfless act took place last Thursday at Brewsters Hair Group, with the courageous woman stating: “I’ve chosen to do this, but some women don’t have that choice.”
Her hair will now be transformed into a wig and donated to a cancer patient.
Donations are already flooding in from Leanne’s work colleagues.
