A PHOTOGRAPHER from Acton Bridge has been named amongst the winners in the prestigious Take A View Landscape Photography Awards 2012.

Paul Bundle was recognised for his image of fishermen on Loch Ard, Scotland, in the competition’s Living the View category.

The category stipulates that photographs must portray people interacting with the outdoors, or working and playing in the UK landscape.

Paul said winning the award is: “a personal satisfaction, but it’s also a confirmation by fellow photographers that your work is of a certain standard.

“There were some very eminent people on the panel so I’m very honoured.”
The part-time professional said the outlook initially did not look promising on the morning he took the photograph and that mist kept setting in and then disappearing again.

“But then I looked the other way, towards the east.

“I saw the wonderful way in which the clouds were hanging around the trees and how shafts of light were falling, and I also noticed the little fishing boat coming across.

“I think it’s a very atmospheric photograph, I think it stood out from the others because it’s evocative and mysterious.”

Paul said he had never entered a competition previously, but got such positive feedback from the exhibition he held in Hartford in April, to which over 1,000 people attended, that he decided to take a chance.

Paul has no immediate plans for a new exhibition, but some of his photographs will be on display at a Victorian Night at St. John’s Church, Hartford, on December 15.
