STUDENTS at the University of Chester Academy Northwich (UCAN) took part in a number of leadership activities as part of a leadership day held at the school on Friday.

Each year group looked at leadership in a different way, with Year 7s using performing arts and Year 8 meeting leaders past and present.

Year 9 students worked with St John’s Ambulance, completing a course to become certified First Aiders.

Year 10 students looked at leadership through English, taking part in various writing, speaking and role play exercises, and Year 11 students used leadership strategies that will improve their exam success in maths and PE.

Richard Russell, impact coordinator at UCAN said: “UCAN is always striving to develop our students and we see leadership as a vehicle to do this.

“All students should be leaders in their own mind, body, classroom and community.

“The leadership day has given students an opportunity to analyse the skills and qualities required to be a leader as well as a chance to reflect on how they can use these skills in their own everyday life.

“We want out students to be the leaders of the future and to excel in everything they do.”
