WEAVER Vale Housing Trust has reduced rent arrears by more than 50 per cent and has reduced the number of evictions caused by rent arrears from 30 to 17.

The improvement in performance comes nine months after the trust established a specialist income management team.

I am extremely pleased with the trust’s improved performance. The benefits to our customers are clear.

Jackie Hodgson, housing manager for Weaver Vale Housing Trust

Arrears figures have reduced from £1.1m in March 2007 to £587,500 in March 2008.

The trust has implemented a number of practices to benefit customers such as changing rent free' weeks to the end of the financial year, working with the Citizen's Advice Bureau and Vale Royal Borough Council, offering more ways to make payment, and offering incentives, for example prize draws.

Jackie Hodgson, housing manager for the trust, said: "I am extremely pleased with the trust's improved performance. The benefits to our customers are clear.

"Not only do we help to prevent customers from falling into arrears but even when they do we offer the best help and advice that we can to enable them to stay in their home."

Are these figures comparing like for like? I'm sure I remember reading something about them moving the rent free weeks so that would mean it isn't a like for like comparison??? Is this just another case of lies, **** lies and statistics????

It's a process that can be likened to "Gerrymandering".

The distortion, tampering, manipulation and the twisting of figures and the way they are reported.

They learned it from New Labour and from other politicians you know :-)

or is it a case that they have fewer tenants as people are buying their houses under the right to buy scheme, and young families like myself are forced to live in cramped conditions with relatives as there are no houses and we cant afford to get on the property ladder

I doubt it, there's still a big rental market you know. Plenty of properties available in Winsford and Northwich for rent. Lots (flats) on Kingsmead I'm told.

Like I say similar to Gerrymandering I reckon
