Not cheap - but still great value

Vina Araya 2010, Cabernet Carmenere, £9.99, Sainsbury's
The smooth, purple, plummy taste of Chile's own Carmenere grapes blended with the berry flavours of Cabernet Sauvignon make this a delightful red from the Central Valley in the foothills of the Andes, writes Nick Nunn.
At 12.5% alcohol it doesn't have any of the heaviness of stronger wines. An ideal drink with a wide variety of foods.
The Ned Pinot Grigio 2011, £9.99, Sainsbury's
The Ned is a 909 metre peak towering above the fields of vines in New Zealand's Marlborough Valley famed for its Sauvignon Blanc wines. Pinot Grigio is a rare white for this part of the world but like it is much tastier stuff than many of the Italian varieties. Strong floral and pear flavours and alcohol at 13.5%.
Not cheap but still good value.
