Vivid memories...
Vina Sol 2010, £6.99, Morrisons
It's funny how some wines will always conjure up a personal memory, writes Nick Nunn.
This one brings vivid memories of a delightful holiday with friends years ago in a quiet part of Majorca.
The wine is from Spain's independent-minded north east region of Catalonia and the highly successful Torres family. The grape is a Catalan variety called Parellada and the taste is a mixture of pineapple and apple.
A delightful taste of summer sun.
The Best Chianti Classico 2008, £7.99, Morrisons
A lot of Chianti used to feel as if it was removing the varnish from your teeth – but not this one.
The Best is Morrisons' own label and this piece of Italy, or Tuscany to be more precise, lives up to the superlative.
Nicely aged in oak it has plenty of blackberry and other forest fruits and a hint of spice.
Aged enough to have a bit of maturity with a sensible 13% alcohol and a richness which isn't overpowering – all at a very reasonable price.
