THE Harlequin Theatre, Northwich, will be staging Bernard Shaw’s famous comedy Pygmalion from December 11-13.
Specially made costumes and a large cast of new and familiar faces will combine to bring glamour and elegance to Shaw’s turn-of-the-century comedy about cockney flower-girl Eliza Doolittle and the attempts of professor of phonetics, Henry Higgins, to change her accent and pass her off as a Duchess.
Set in 1912, Shaw’s look at social climbing, regional accent and experience of class division, went on to inspire the musical My Fair Lady that immortalised Julie Andrews, Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn 50 years later.
The show runs from Monday, December 8 and from Thursday, December 11 to Saturday, December 13. Performances start at 7.45pm and tickets priced £6 can be booked by calling the box office on 01606 353534.
