THE Nest is a 60 minute play exploring our attitudes towards data sharing being shown at Manchester’s newest arts venue, 53Two on April 24 and 25.

The Nest focuses on the relationship between a father and daughter, Sean and Sara and is set in a modern day world where The Nest system takes care of all Sean's needs. The play will examine a range of attitudes to towards data sharing, looking at how and why they can differ and at times conflict and the consequences this can have.

Whether or not we realise it we are constantly sharing data (photos of our brunch on Instagram, location check-ins on Facebook) and having our data shared about us (our search histories on the internet are used to create targeted adverts) but how much thought do we give to where this data goes to and how it is used?

And when it comes to your medical records do you know how and when they are shared and how do you feel about this?

Ultimately when it comes to data sharing...how much are you willing to share?

Post-show there will be a discussion about the themes raised in the play, allowing audience members to ask questions, discuss their thoughts or just hear the views of others in the room. This session will be chaired by Tom Cheesewright an expert on the topic of technology and tomorrow and a regular guest on the TV and radio including the BBC and Channel 4.

The production has been written by Rosie MacPherson, directed by Peter Bradley and performed by Ray Ashcroft and Hannah Butterfield.
