Piers Morgan has claimed that his Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid knows how to have a wild night out.
The two went out together on April 8 to the Groucho club in London, with Piers sharing a photograph of him smoking a cigar and Susanna drinking a glass of wine.
Appearing on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, Piers said: “We did have a bender. We get back from holidays and Susanna asked me if I fancied a ‘getting to know each other’ night at the Groucho club.
“We get there and one bottle of wine, two bottles of wine, and some friends arrive, three bottles of wine, four bottles of wine, a couple of whiskies, I got a large cigar, then we go to the balcony and all of these random people start careering in to our flight path.
“Then, brilliantly, at about midnight the management threw us inside, which I don’t think has ever happened! Normally people get thrown out of nightclubs and we were the first people ever to be thrown inside the Groucho, because we were too noisy.
“I learned one thing. Susanna Reid can pack a drink.”
Piers joined Susanna on the ITV breakfast show’s sofa six months ago as co-host, with the two enjoying a friendly – and at times antagonistic – relationship.
Susanna told host Alan Carr: “I haven’t had a drink since by the way … That was the biggest night I had in years. I take weeks to recover.”
She added: “The most challenging thing the other night was that we don’t like the same wine. What that means is he will buy separate wine for each of us, which means you drink twice as much wine as you would expect to drink.
“As a result, you get twice as merry and stay out twice as long, so it’s double trouble.”
But there was never any danger of the two pairing up romantically.
Asked by Alan how much she would have to drink to have sex with Piers, Susanna said: “You haven’t got enough alcohol in your stores.”
She denied any sexual chemistry with her co-host, saying: “It is not an intense sexual chemistry … He is nowhere near my perfect man. It is not going to happen.”
Piers responded: “Me think the lady doth protest too much.”
The former newspaper editor and chat show host has been forthright in defending US presidential hopeful Donald Trump, who he got to know while competing in Celebrity Apprentice in America.
He told Alan: “He is a brilliant showman and media manipulator. Everyone wrote him off and said he was a joke. My guess is he will win the nomination, and in a straight fight between him and Hillary Clinton, I think it will be a lot closer than people think.
“You may want to get used to president Trump, and should I become chief of staff…”
But no job offer from Trump will make Piers leave the Good Morning Britain sofa.
“Obviously I wouldn’t,” he said, adding: “I wouldn’t vote for Trump.”
Alan Carr: Chatty Man airs at 10.30pm on April 28 on Channel 4.
