HEADLINING a ska-themed instalment of Banned Network on Friday is Southampton band Kids Can't Fly.

Formed in May 2006 with the intention of giving the Southampton ska-punk scene a kick, seven members were drafted in from bands, including Zero Consent, Schoolboy Error, Fandangle, Toupé and Speaking of Losers.

Using the powerful sound of backline and the edgy sound of brass, they wrote a set list of songs, and soon started gigging, supporting some of the UK and US's most popular ska and punk bands.

These included Zebrahead, The Fight, Spunge, Jesse James, The Misfits, The Toasters, Fandangle and Grown at Home.

Support comes from Detached, a six-piece Ska band from Caerphilly. Expect ska punk mixed with a whole lot of other stuff thrown in for good measure.

Doors open at Winnington Rec, Park Road,at 8pm, and entry is £4.50.
