SKY One's latest drama, that was partly filmed in Orford, starts on Tuesday.

Police thriller Bulletproof stars BAFTA-winning actor Noel Clarke and So Solid Crew rapper Ashley Walters as best friends Bishop and Pike who tackle criminals in their own maverick style.

So expect car chases, shoot outs, stake-outs and heists set in a world of gun-running and corruption.

The action-packed show is mainly set in London but the actors and a film crew were spotted in Orford in November when they posed for selfies with fans in between takes.

Pike (Walters) is said to be the more stable half of the duo. He’s a family man set to follow in the footsteps of his successful father and climb the ranks of the police.

But he is torn between his love for his family and his addiction to his job even though he’s worried it’s going to kill him.

Abandoned as a child, Bishop (Clarke) is described as a 'walking timebomb' due to his unpredictable nature and the only one that has never let him down is Pike.

The six-part series also features The Wire's Clarke Peters as Pike's father and a decorated officer and EastEnders' Lindsey Coulson as lead officer Sarah Tanner.

Bulletproof was made by Vertigo Films, behind the likes of Bronson and Monsters, and written and directed by Nick Love, known for The Football Factory and The Sweeney.

He said: "I’d had conversations with Sky about making an action-based police show. They were fans of my movie The Sweeney so we talked about writing a new show.

"And I’d known Noel for quite a while and we’d talked about doing something together for a long time.

"So then it was basically about coming up with some material that didn’t feel like normal British cop shows.

"The friendship and the action were the two things I was really keen on driving through. Action is the one thing I feel like I’ve never really seen on TV in England.

"The police dramas are very much about procedure and investigation and we wanted to make ours about action."

The opening episode sees Pike attending an award ceremony for his police chief father but their plans are interrupted when an informant is killed and a crime ring stealing luxury cars is uncovered.

Ashley said: "Noel and I always wanted to work together in some way and always wondered why we hadn’t.

"I was a big fan of Bad Boys and buddy cop movies and didn’t understand why we didn’t have anything like that over here in the UK

"It' a show about brotherhood, with two black leads being good role models for once, because a lot of images and characters at the time were portraying negative stereotypes."

Noel added: For me, the action is exciting, but the most important part of the show is the camaraderie and the love the characters have for each other.

"That’s what’s going to make this stand out. The action comes from the fact they’ll do anything they can to look after each other and get their man."
