EXPECT magic and mirth when Warrington’s Gemini Musical Theatre Company return to the stage to present Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Sorcerer.

The production is at the Pyramid on April 13 and 14.

Although not one of the best known Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, The Sorcerer, with its topsy-turvy plot, is full of charming music and fun.

Alexis, a young aristocrat, decides that everyone should have the chance to fall in love irrespective of their social rank and wealth.

To promote his beliefs he invites a shady and glib-tongued sorcerer to brew a love potion, which will be administered to the villagers in seemingly innocent cups of tea. This causes everyone in the village to fall in love with the first – and generally unsuitable – person they see, with the inevitable disastrous and comic consequences.

Rehearsals have been in full swing since January and Danny Shaw, chairman of Gemini and stage director has been enjoying the challenge.

He said: “It has fine music throughout and its plot gives the opportunity to be inventive in terms of presenting its mystical and magical aspects to our audience.”

Tickets are £12.50. Call 601773 or 442345.
