A JAPANESE band will play at a Northwich pub this summer in what could be a first for the town.

Anger Flares, a household name in Japan, will perform at the Witton Chimes during their UK tour.

Chris Mundie, concert organiser, said: "I have a band on all the way from Japan, which I think is a first for Northwich.

"I want to get as many people down to the gig as possible as all the other dates they are doing are in major cities, it would be great to show them that the smaller towns in England have something to offer too."

The band are billed as playing energetic punk and oi! music with big hooks and catchy tunes.

They are looking to expand their Japanese fan base to the UK and Europe.

"They are a brilliant live band and should not be missed," Chris said.

He added: "The main reason I am putting on the gig is because my band toured in Japan last year and Yuitchi from Anger Flares was the guy that booked it all for us, they are really nice guys and a really great band, I think this gig has the potential to be something pretty unusual and special for the local area."

They will be supported by two Cheshire bands, Bearing Loss and Redneck Zombies.

Chris said: "Bearing Loss are a Hardcore band from Cheshire, they haven't been around very long, but they have already toured extensively around the UK and Europe, they have the passion and enthusiasm of youth but play with the ability and style of a band well beyond their years, they play hard and heavy in your face music and are on course to go from strength to strength.

"Definitely a band to watch in the future as they are destined for big things.

"Redneck Zombies have been on the scene for 15 years now, they play fast and loose punk rock, its been a couple of years since they last played, but they have dusted themselves off specially for this event, Zombies gigs are always unpredictable, come and see if they have mellowed or not in recent years."

Admission is free and the gig, on August 4, starts at 8pm.
