WITH recent strange sightings in the skies above Stretford perhaps it's about time Mulder and Scully came out of retirement.

Five years after the alien hunters rode off into the sunset they’re back again with their second movie.

Now both out of the FBI Scully (Gillian Anderson) is working as a doctor for a catholic-run hospital while a bearded Mulder (David Duchovny) is as obsessive as ever.

They are reluctantly called out of retirement after an FBI official goes missing and pretty soon the body count starts to mount.

For die hard X Files fans I’m sure this is a welcome return but for those new to the series I don’t believe it will encourage them to take it further.

Yes there were scary moments but the whole thing felt like an extended episode rather than a feature film.

5/10 I can't believe it's a film
