Our Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Level 2 Associate course is the perfect starting point for a career in bookkeeping. You will be introduced to the principles of recording financial transactions in a way that enables effective business planning. By enrolling on this course, you will learn traditional manual bookkeeping methods – such as the 'Double Entry System' – along with computerised techniques using Excel and Sage, the world’s most popular bookkeeping software package. Your knowledge will be enhanced through a variety of interesting and practical examples and assignments that will teach you how to provide accurate financial data for a range of organisations.

This course is accredited by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB). With over 150,000 students and members spread across more than 50 countries, it is the largest bookkeeping institute in the world.

Qualification

Bookkeeping is a skill you can use in an almost limitless number of industries, allowing you to gain employment in the sector of your choosing. With your new qualification you will be able to apply for a variety of roles, including Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper, earning up to £30,246* (*Source: www.payscale.com, May 2011). Upon successful completion of this course you will be eligible to ICB Associate membership, allowing you to use the letters AICB after your name and to set up as an independent bookkeeper working on behalf of sole traders. Having gained your Level 2 qualification, you may wish to progress to our ICB Level 3 Professional course which will take your bookkeeping skills to the next level. At that stage you can also upgrade to full ICB membership, gaining a licence to practise on behalf of limited companies and partnerships and allowing you to use the letters MICB after your name.

Course length

You should be able to complete the entire course within approximately 220 study hours. To gain the final qualification you will be required to complete 17 assignments and pass four exams
