I WOULD like to thank all those readers of your paper who voted for me in the election. The support they gave me while offering the electorate a choice of where to put theirs tick is immeasurable. I do wish however that more of our town took the trouble to exercise this freedom that is still denied many in less fortunate parts of the world.
I shall continue to do my best to serve the people of Middlewich as a town councillor. It is important in a democratic country such as ours, that there is a choice of candidates and sufficient information freely available to the electorate to wisely exercise it. We would also benefit from a more proportionate system of deciding who is elected, than we have at present, so that each vote counts.
I invite anyone who would like to contact me to do so at any time. While I am not be able to move mountains I will always do my best to help them obtain justice for themselves and their loved ones. I urge all your readers to engage in the democratic process wherever possible.
PETER HIRST Rushton Drive, Middlewich
