WATCHING on television, the sorting and counting of ballot papers for the recent local elections, I could not believe the sloppy, slapdash attitude of the people counting - laughing and chatting, dropping ballot papers on the floor, in fact not taking the work seriously at all.
Don't these people realise the serious repercussions of their job?
The outcome of local elections affects the day-to-day lives of all of us.
When one thinks about it, sloppy, don't care standards are the norm in most services today.
Lack of discipline for fear of retribution, means those in authority turn a blind eye.
