I WOULD like to thank the young lady and her two male friends who helped me when I fell in Northwich near to the Watermans Arms Witton Chimes due to an uneven gradient going across the footpath. I was badly shaken and hurt but thanks to them an ambulance was called and the police arrived and helped me to my feet to sit on a borrowed chair until the ambulance arrived. Their assistance was invaluable.
Thank you to all of you. I am very grateful.
I put in a complaint to the council and the gradient was straightened quickly. But considering there are so many falls in Northwich, the council highways people should make sure that the footpaths and roads are in a safe state instead of saying in correspondence that they are not to blame because by their measurements it is only 10mm out of line, which I find questionable.

Any fault in a footpath that can make a pedestrian fall is their fault and it is time that they woke up and got something done about it. We are always hearing about the Northwich Vision - get something done about the footpaths first.
Lyn Bennet fell on April 10 as reported in the Guardian. My niece fell a few years ago and broke a bone in her foot and a friend's husband came off his bike not too long ago through a pothole. How many more people are going to get hurt?
