WE hear almost weekly of the lamentable efforts of the Middlewich Burial Board's efforts to replace the damaged cemetery gates on Chester Road.
It is my understanding that the burial board has a duty to secure insurance for the cemetery to cover damage to the chapels, the walls, the sexton's lodge and the iron fencing and gate in addition to a considerable sum for public liability.
It has to be remembered that the buildings and ironwork are Grade 2 listed and demand appropriate insurance.

Middlewich residents would appreciate the opportunity of examining the details of the public money that is paid to both Congleton Borough Council and Middlewich Town Council.
This could be arranged by displaying the accounts at the Victoria Buildings.
No further excuse for the delay is acceptable. Perhaps elected town councillors should be made to realise the importance of serving on this particular committee so that we can rely on making our last journey with dignity.
