IN 1987 we put a stone on our son's grave in Christ Church, Wharton.

As we could not keep it clean, we decided to renew it.

After enquiries, we found we had to pay £149 to the church to do this and would like an explanation as to why, when we have already paid this sum 20 years ago.

Various churchyards have different prices, Ellesmere Port, for example, is only £50. The charge, plus the headstone makes this very expensive.

The churchyard is expected to be kept looking good, but with this amount how can pensioners, like us, do this?

Be thankfull you don't live in New Zealand, a plot & headstone in a small town would cost you U.K. 2000 pounds.
